Become a mentor
Formal and informal mentoring is the backbone of the communications profession, and is a requirement to attain the world's first ANSI accredited certification for professional communicators, from the Global Communications Certification Council. Please contact us if you would like to offer your time to mentor a communications professional in Aotearoa.
Our goal is to connect the capital’s professional communicators and support informal career development through our mentoring programme. We aim to act as a catalyst for making connections and establishing relationships between two people to exchange best practices and professional knowledge.
Mentorship is a simple, free way we can all ensure we grow and support our profession. The experience expands leadership and management skills and creates an opportunity to apply coaching, teaching, and listening skills. The experience helps a mentor to examine a new perspective outside their workplace and is a way to give back— helping to build future leaders for the communications profession.
Mentoring is a shared learning experience that not only benefits the mentee, but also the mentor. The partnership is a tremendous learning experience that provides the opportunity to gain knowledge, insights, and wisdom— not to mention some free coaching from “the best of the best.”
Members are also welcome to nominate a team member or colleague whom they think would benefit from a mentoring experience.
Proposed time commitment:
