Anika Forsman, APR
IABC Aotearoa Immediate Past President Anika has spent more than 20 years working in a variety of communications and media roles. First as a journalist, before finding her true home in communications, where she has spent time in the private sector and local and central government. She is currently the Director of Stakeholder relations at Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission, leading a team of communications and engagement specialists tasked with trying to get people thinking about planning for retirement before it’s too late! Prior to joining Te Ara Ahunga Ora, Anika spent six years working for Auckland Unlimited, most recently leading the communications and marketing requirements for the Auckland Council group and Crown partners for the 36th America’s Cup. Jacqui Martin
Finance Director Jacqui is a senior communications professional, whose first and abiding love is all things internal communications. She has more than 20 years’ experience, progressing from writing media releases about global property investment funds through to helping launch a culture change programme in one of New Zealand’s largest corporates. Jacqui has worked in the private sector, both central and local government, and a member organisation. Jacqui is a manager within the Talent and Organisation/Human Potential practice, part of Accenture Consulting’s Strategy and Consulting Group. |
Charmead Schella
Director Senior Communications Lead Char is an internationally experienced senior communications and engagement professional with a knack for weaving narratives that help people feel connected. She has worked both near and far over her 25-year career, having spun her magic in Canada, the Dominican Republic, the Czech Republic, the United States, and New Zealand. Char has professional agility across the wide comms spectrum, but is currently thrilled to be leading the CentrePort internal communications and engagement strategy charge for its diverse workforce. Past experience includes Indigenous government, local government, not-for-profit, private and public education sectors, and corporate. Char’s career officially began as a journalist, although one could argue it started at a spelling bee when she was seven. Between sitting on her son’s college school board and making sure the sheep on her lifestyle block have enough tucker, Char makes time to keep up to the minute on emerging communications trends. |
Lydia Sinclair
Director Lydia Sinclair is a senior communications leader, with a passion for work that makes a difference in the New Zealand community. Her background in life insurance and working in the media has leant itself well to her role as Head of Corporate Communications and PR Public Trust. At the 150-year-old Crown entity, she and her team are responsible for internal and external communications, and PR. Lydia’s role focuses on telling the story of Public Trust – what the organisation does and why it matters – to both internal and external audiences in order to help the organisation achieve its purpose of empowering all New Zealanders to build and protect their legacies. Lydia is a native Aucklander, where she still lives with her husband, 14-year-old child, two step children and a rambunctious rescue dog. |

She is currently employed as a senior communications advisor at Cawthron Institute, New Zealand's largest independent science institute.
